EuSANH activities
EuSANH-ISA project
The project Improving Science Advice for Health – EuSANH (abbreviated EuSANH-ISA) will be funded by the European Commission in the 7th Framework Program and starts in February 2009.In this project the following activities will be performed:
- Describe the functions and structure of existing national science advisory bodies for health in twelve European countries; and carry out a thematic analysis of reports from each country.
- Establish a common ‘best practice’ methodology for science advice.
- Develop a plan for communication and cooperation in the expanding network of science advisory bodies, taking advantage of the SINAPSE electronic communication system.
- Illustrate the common methodology and the functioning of the network by developing a pilot case study for a European science advisory report.

Relevant national scientific advisory reports from members
An important goal of EuSANH is to share information amongst the member organisations. At this moment, however, the access to many national reports is limited because not all reports (and summaries) are in English. Therefore, as a first step, information on national science advisory reports with international relevance from each member has been obtained. Click here for a number of relevant advisory reports of the EuSANH members. This will increase the access to relevant national reports. Moreover, a prioritization will be made and possibilities for financing the translation of these reports will be explored.
Coordinating national work programmes
"Towards collaborating on pending projects" was a topic of last EuSANH conference in The Hague 2008. Within the current advisory programme and plans of the EuSANH members, some areas have shown to be simultaneously covered by three members or more: vaccination, screening, mental health and innovation of hospitals. Other fields of interest like are occupational health and environmental health. During the conference possible topics for EuSANH-ISA case studies were suggested. Click here for an overview of these topics.
